Girl Scouts Celebrates National S’mores Day

Jackson, MI- Wednesday, August 10th is National S’mores Day, and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan invites everyone to celebrate with us the Girl Scout way! On August 10th come down to the Girl Scout Regional Center located at 4403 Francis Street, Jackson, MI 49203 between 4:00pm-7:00pm to play some games, make a craft, take part in a STEM activity, and of course make some s’mores! This is a free event that is open to everyone, and is geared toward girls who are not yet Girl Scouts but are interested in learning more. Bring the entire family and some friends with you to join in on the fun! For questions about the event you can email helpdesk@gshom.org or call 800-497-2688.

Did you know that Girl Scouts invented s’mores and published the first s’mores recipe in 1927 calling them “some mores”? So everyone has Girl Scouts to thank for the delicious gooey s’mores in addition to their favorite Girl Scout Cookie! We at Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan are taking National S’mores Day as an opportunity to share with the public what it means to be a Girl Scout and what unique opportunities we offer. Who better to celebrate National S’mores day with than the creators themselves?

We Are Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
