Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) Commends Local Businesses for Supporting Veterans’ Employment Opportunities

Jackson, MI – JACKSON, MI - February 6th, 2024 - The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) is pleased to announce a significant collaboration with two community-minded, family-owned businesses, Printer Source Plus and Professional Tree Care, who have generously stepped forward to support local Veterans in their quest for employment opportunities.

Printer Source Plus and Professional Tree Care have demonstrated their commitment to the community by providing a year's worth of bus passes for Veterans, ensuring they have reliable transportation as they pursue job opportunities. These passes will be distributed through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity's Veterans' Employment Services team, led locally by Veterans Career Advisor, Mikie Kelly.

Mikie Kelly expressed his gratitude, stating, "I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) and the sponsors for their steadfast support of our veteran community. Your generosity and commitment are making a significant impact on our mission to help veterans who face barriers to employment – barriers such as a lack of reliable transportation. By working with caring community partners such as JATA, we can break down those barriers and pave the way for our veterans to successfully transition into productive civilian careers. I encourage veterans looking for employment-related assistance to visit your local Michigan Works! Service Center or our webpage, Michigan.gov/VES."

Joe Sharpe, owner of Printer Source Plus, remarked, "We believe in giving back to those who have given so much for our country. Supporting Veterans in their journey towards employment is an honor, and we are proud to collaborate with JATA to provide the transportation they need to access these opportunities."

Nickie Fox, owner of Professional Tree Care, added, "As a family-owned business deeply rooted in the community, we understand the importance of supporting our Veterans. This initiative is a small gesture of gratitude for their sacrifices, and we hope it makes a meaningful impact on their lives."

"We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Printer Source Plus and Professional Tree Care for their unwavering dedication to the community and their generous support of Veterans seeking employment opportunities," said Michael Brown, Executive Director, Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA).
