TRAVEL BACK TO AN 1862 CHRISTMAS AT JACKSON’S CIVIL WAR WINTER ENCAMPMENT


JACKSON COUNTY (December 2, 2024) – This Saturday, immerse yourself in the world of the American Civil War at an extraordinary Living History event hosted by the Jackson Civil War Society, the Ella Sharp Museum, and the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society. Experience the harsh realities and resilience of Civil War soldiers during the winter months as the museum grounds transform into a meticulously recreated winter encampment of the 26th Michigan Infantry Regiment at Camp Jackson, circa December 1862.

Visitors of all ages will have the unique opportunity to step back in time and witness firsthand the life of soldiers braving the elements. Living historians in authentic period attire will demonstrate a variety of camp activities, including:
