WellWise Services Receives Vaccine Grant

(Brooklyn, MI)- WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging has received a grant again this year from USAging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative (ADVC). The ADVC works with Area Agencies on Aging and other community-based organizations to increase the number of older adults and adults with disabilities who receive COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines.

The ADVC, which is funded through a grant from the US Administration for Community Living, partners with community-based organizations across the aging and disability networks to support an array of vaccination education and promotion activities, including community vaccine clinics, in-home vaccinations, transportation to vaccination sites, and outreach and education.

Beginning in April 2023, WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging co-hosted several vaccine clinics, educated the community via various newsletters and social media posts, and helped give 206 Flu vaccines and 191 COVID vaccines as part of this grant, which included arranging for in-home vaccines for people who were homebound. WellWise Services also assisted with giving vaccines in the prevention of shingles, pneumonia, and RSV.

WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging was established in 1974 and is a not-for-profit agency serving older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers in Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties.
